The Somalian soldiers were deemed ready for redeployment back to their home country, equipped with new skills sets including FIBUA, weapon marksmanship, communications, Counter- IED and combat life saving. EUTM Somalia is currently led by Col Michael Beary and involves ten Defence Forces personnel in total. The passing out parade was the pinnacle of the training effort and was attended by numerous dignitaries includ- ing the Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS), Mr. Maciej Popowski and the Irish Ambas- sador to Uganda, H. E. Anne Webster. Dur- ing his speech Mr. Popowski praised the work of the mission and emphasised that EUTM is a shining example of the success of Ugandan and EU co-operation in the quest of stabilising Somalia, a high priority for the European Union.
