Defence Forces Newsletter
Position of attention. A Mheitheal - Aire
Slope Arms Claonaigh Airm
THE REASON WHY The new drill was designed using a combination of the current drill, FN rifle drill, a combination of different armed forces arms drill, and some drill movement designed from scratch.
Stand Easy Ar Socracht
With Intervals, Right Dress Le Heatraimh ó Dheis - Deasaig
POINTS TO NOTE: • The rifle will be carried in the slope arms position when soldiers are marching and on halting. If arms drill is to be carried out, the rifle will be brought to the carry arms position.
• The operational sling will not be used on the rifle during the conduct of Arms Drill/Inspections except:
• While mounting/ dimounting for duty.
• Paying compliments whilst on duty.

The arms drill helps improve pos- ture and looks a lot smarter as the sling is removed from around the neck and this stops the sling inter- fering with the uniform and medals.
