visit us at www.military.ie the Adidas Terrex Adventure Race. This race is part of the World Series of Adventure Racing and attracted 36 teams from around the world. The race involved five days of non ADIDAS RACE W ell done to the DF Team that travelled to Scotland in August to compete in stop racing through the Scottish Highlands. Teams were required to navigate day and night across a 620km course by means of mountain biking, trekking, running, kayaking, canyoning and orienteering. The team consisted of Capt Maeve O' Grady, Capt Daniel Morrogh, Capt Eoghan Carton and Lt Diarmaid Collins and they finished in 10th place overall. 106 IRISHFINNBATT BY CAPT BRIAN CONNOLLY T the combined Irish and Finnish Patrols which take place regu- larly in the Area of Operations for 106 IRISH- FINNBATT. These patrols are within Frame- work type op's ie. area domination, Blue Line patrols, Counter Rocket Launching Operation's and random checkpoints etc. They also work together when it comes to longer and larger patrols when needed. Coordinated Activity with the LAF is conducted on a daily basis also. Although there were different SOP's between the two nations, the Irish and Finnish enjoy an excellent working relationship. Over the last four months,106 IRISHFINNBATT has proved to be a coherent, ef- ficient and cohesive unit within all branches i.e. Logs, CIS, Press office, CIMIC, Cook staff , MPs etc, all of which have both Irish and Finnish soldiers, working together daily. he picture featured highlight's EUTM O Oracle's User Productivity Kit (UPK) O DF Strategic Applications, which is provided by DFHQ CIS Coy with the Military Administration School. The interactive tutorials provided through UPK allow users to view demonstrations of how to perform common MIF related tasks (E-Busi- ness Suite, EAM), as well as practice carrying out these tasks through the web browser. People who may not have used the Strategic Ap- plications for a while, or those selected to undergo a MIF course will find the UPK useful to quickly and effectively revise important elements of the MIF. To find the UPK look at the intranet homepage and click on the Stra- tegic Apps Interactive Tutorials button. racle's User Productivity Kit (UPK) is a new training resource for users of the T.D., visited DF personnel serving with IRCON 5 of EUTM Somalia in Uganda. At the mission HQ in Kampala, Mr. Gilmore was welcomed by EUTM Commander Col Michael Beary. An Tánaiste used the visit to award the nine DF personnel their service medal in recognition of their service with EUTM n a recent visit to East Africa, An Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs & Trade, Eamon Gilmore Somalia. The award of these medals brings to twenty eight, the number of DF personnel who have served with the training mission in Uganda. EUTM Somalia, which Ireland has led since August 2011, culminates with the current training effort in December. A Strategic Review is currently being finalised and will develop a roadmap for a third mandate, should the EU authorise the continuation of the mission into 2013.
