W
ednesday 13th March a bitterly cold afternoon in
Monsktown RFC, the Defence Forces Rugby team
suffered a narrow defeat to the British Royal Navy.
Both sides have been great rivals since their first encounter back in 2001 and this
game had all the hallmarks of a real derby fixture. The game didnt disappoint as both sides traded blows and gave the supporters
a superb spectacle to cheer on. The game was a very evenly fought contest with the Navy coming out on top by a six point margin
(Final score 10-16). Both teams should be congratulated on the spirit in which they played the game and the Defence Forces can
count themselves very unlucky to come out of this game with a loss. Overall a fine display from the home side and this will set
them up nicely for the forthcoming fixture against the RAF later in the year. Well done to all involved.
