HANDOVER CEREMONY OF LYNCH CAMP
was a solemn event in which all present reflected
upon all soldiers and staff that called Kilworth
Camp their home station over the past 125 years
and commemorated those that have passed on
to their ultimate reward. Local musicians added
depth to the event with Mr Paul Finn performing
A Song for Ireland on the square.
Following the formal ceremony, guests remained
in Lynch Camp and enjoyed DF catering and
further musical performances from local
musicians. Mr. Tom O'Neill from Midleton
(a renowned historian) delivered an excellent
lecture on the historical backdrop to the period.
The fine weather certainly augmented the good
spirits of the event, and it remains a memorable
and important day in the history of the local
community and our nation.
