| 33 www.military.ie THE DEFENCE FORCES MAGAZINE BRAZILIAN JUJITSU The Defence Forces Brazilian jujitsu club is going from strength to strength, with training every Tuesday and Thursday in Baldonnel and regular use of Jujitsu gyms across the country. Trooper Dylan O'Donovan had a very successful tournament in Rome winning gold in the IBGF internationals. Looking forward, we will have competitors getting ready to compete in the nationals in September so we are currently trying to get a very strong team together for that! Keep an eye on our spaces for women's only Jiujitsu as well. DF DIVE GROUP The Defence Forces Dive Group (DFDG) ran the 2025 basic dive course from 12-23 MAY 25. The course is ran in three phases, with Phase 1 in DFPES Pool and Phases 2 & 3 in Bere Island, Co. Cork. The course is designed to take absolute beginners and train them in as recreational open water divers. A total of 9 students completed the course. On completion of the basic course, trainees can apply to join the DFDG and continue diving within the Defence Forces or have their skills recognised by an external civilian organisation. The DFDG will be attending the Hook Dive Rally on 18-20 JUL and the Advanced Dive Cse will take place 12-19 SEP 25. If you are interested in scuba diving check out our space on the connect app or contact your local DFDG rep DF MEN'S SOCCER DF/ETB Dublin Tournament The DF mens soccer team took part in a tournament with 3 Dublin based FAI ETB Courses from Cabra, Clondalkin and Irishtown. The tournament took place over a 2-week period in Irishtown stadium and Crumlin United park. The DF won all 3 games and won the tournament outright receiving the ANSAC Trophy from Ret Sgt Ricky McCausland. Tournament results: DF v Irishtown 4-1 DF v Clondalkin 5-0 DF v Cabra 6-1 | 33
