PRESIDENTIAL
INAUGURATION

n 11 November 2025, Catherine Connolly was
inaugurated as the 10th President of Ireland at
Dublin Castle. The Defence Forces provided full
ceremonial honours, including a 21-gun salute, military band
performances, a guard of honour, and an Air Corps flypast.
In her address, she pledged to build a "republic worthy of its
name," emphasising climate action, the Irish language and
inclusion.
The ceremony marked a new chapter in Irish politics, with President
Connolly setting out to bring greater diversity, critical thinking and
community engagement to the largely ceremonial presidency.
She also vowed to prioritise the Irish language in the presidential
residence, and to value every citizen's voice in her tenure.
