E
very year the An Cosantóir Office begins planning for
the 10k race around 6 months before the race, in April.
One of the earliest decisions to be made is the design
of the tshirt. The race tshirt in 2024 received a lot of positive
commentary, having been designed by Cpl Martin Bennett
and Armn Sam Gibney of the An Cosantóir Office. This year, we
decided to open it up to members of the DF and the public to
submit their ideas. We were overwhelmed with the response,
receiving over 30 submissions, with a great variety of colours,
patterns and designs!
The long list was narrowed down to the final 3 with the overall
winner being Capt John Mc Candless from 28 Inf Bn AR. The final
design used for the race incorporated elements from the joint
second place designs including a map of the race route and Ogham
script.
Challenges encountered included matching colours and fonts
from designs created with AI into a design that was usable by the
manufacturer, but with some help from Cpl Eric Ryan from the An
Cosantóir Office utilising his graphic design skills we finalised the
design and feedback was very positive following the results being
announced!
