From the editor
T
his edition's front cover features a photograph by Pte Tom Halpin (AR), D Company, 7 Infantry Battalion, the winner of our Social Media Photo of
the Month competition. We'd like to thank everyone who took the time to enter and encourage all members to keep an eye on Connect and our
social media channels for future competitions. Alongside the Photo of the Month competition, we also ran an On Parade competition through the
Connect App, which received an excellent response. Those who submitted photographs were entered into a draw to win the new An Cosantóir race
T-shirt, with entries showcasing the professionalism, pride and camaraderie that exist throughout the Defence Forces. While gathering articles for
this edition, the team was also busy preparing for two key events on our calendar: Overseas Family Support Day and the An Cosantóir 10K later this
year. Both events continue to be greatly valued by serving personnel, veterans and Defence Forces families. As always, we hope you enjoy this edition
of An Cosantóir. The magazine is at its best when it reflects the experiences, achievements and stories of Defence Forces personnel at home and
overseas. If you have an interesting story to tell, an exercise or deployment to highlight, or photographs that capture life in uniform, we encourage you
to get in touch with us. Your contributions help ensure An Cosantóir continues to represent the people and professionalism of Óglaigh na hÉireann.
