gear review Princeton Tec Remix Headlamp Colour: Black with green LED price: €34.75 The manufacturer says... The Remix is equipped with an asymmetrical single arm bracket, easily accessible battery door enclosure, and large push button switch. Combine these features with a simple and lightweight design and you have a headlamp built to perform in any environment. Whether your requirements call for long distance spotting, or close range area light, the Remix is up to the task with a combination of a single Maxbright LED and 3 Ultrabright LEDs. The end result; true versatility in a compact, water resistant (Level 1) and self-contained package. Our reviewer Sgt Wayne Fitzgerald (PR Branch, DFHQ) says... I remember reading a review here about a guy saying "I have many knives", well similarly I have lots of head torches – some cheap and some average. But the Princeton Tec Remix Headlamp is what it claims; a nice lightweight headlight with a very comfortable strap and a really easy to use button. With three settings for illumination, one click for low level green LED, second click in quick succession gives out a brighter green LED and a short continuous hold gives out a full white LED stronger than your average torch. I got the full use of the head torch on a recent Kildare County Scouting Camp in Lacken in Blessington Lakes, where it was the envy of many a scouter – and at a reasonable price I would highly recommend it to military and mountaineers alike. Additional Features: Low profile 8mm heel-to-toe offset, protective internal toe guard, speed lacing system with lock-out, medialside fast-rope zone, hidden knife pocket and Ortholite® Insole for cushioning and comfort. Cpl Neville Coughlan (PR Branch, DFHQ) says... I have been wearing the boots for the last few weeks now and I have to say they are like a pair of runners - a very comfortable boot. The boot is very lightweight at about 1.5kg for both boots, so they are very lightweight. They are very comfortable for everyday wear and longer periods of time. I have been wearing them in the mountains as part of my job and they have a toe guard which is great up in the mountains and little vents on the side of them to let out water if you are unlucky to be in the water - they drain out very quickly. They are very durable and rugged boot in all types of terrain. The boots in my opinion are great value for money. The boots will suit a lot of people from soldiers to hikers and walkers.
