L118: The 105mm light gun is a short to medium ranged towed
gun, capable of delivering a variety of munitions at relatively
high rates of fi re. It fulfi ls the Defence Forces role to maintain
a conventional all arms capability. There are a total of 24 guns
and they have been in service since 1981
L119: The 105mm L119 short barrel variant was brought into
service in 2005, with the modifi cation of 6 L118s. There are 6 in
service, all with the Artillery School. It fi res American and Ca-
nadian produced ammunition, making it more cost eff ective
for training purposes than its longer range variant the L118.
