ON 1 MAY, 2012 - SAINT JOSEPHS COLLEGE (SSCC), AYN IBIL
Situated in South Lebanon, Ayn Ibil occupies several hills with elevations ranging from 750 to 850 meters above sea level. Ayn Ibil is within the Irish Battalion (Irish Batt) Area of Operations (AO). The village is close to the Blue Line and is situated on the path of an ancient trade route that con- nected Tyre, Damascus and Haifa. Christian and Muslims students both boys and girls are all taught together. Our unofficial School motto is "all for one and one for all" - Sister Josephine NASR (School Director). Irish Batt was requested in November 2011 to assist the School once
a week for 3Hrs teaching conversational English to students of the Secondary School - ages range from 12-16 yrs, in order to improve the English Language programme for the School. This programme was run by Cpl Roch Ryan, Capt Rose-Anna White and Lt Amy Colclough. For the vast majority of the School (both teachers and students) it is their first interaction with people from Ireland, they really enjoy learning more about Irish culture and its people.
