Word searches are fun, they also bring benefits you may not realise and can play an important role in keeping you mentally fit. word search T his year the Soldiers & Chiefs exhibition at the National Museum of Ireland, Decorative Arts & History in Collins Barracks will open the Battle of Messines exhibition, which surveys what happened to the Irish soldier in 1917 on the Western Front. A selection of artifacts will be on display for the first time at the National Museum of Ireland for the Battle of Messines exhibition. These include Dublin born Fr William Doyle's uni- form and medals. Fr Doyle volunteered in November 1915 and was very popular with the Irish soldiers. Letters and medals belonging to Dublin born Lt Col John Patrick Hunt, CMG, DSO DCM. Hunt who fought as a young man in the South African War (1899-1901) and retired in 1913, and reenlisted at outbreak of war in 1914 and quickly became an officer in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. These stories and more can be seen in the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, Dublin from Thursday 1st June 2017. Over 1,000 objects from all over the world cover 1,700 square metres of Collins Barracks as the Sol- diers & Chiefs exhibition traces Ireland's military history from 1550 into the 21st Century. admission to the national museum of Ireland is Free and it is open Tuesday – Saturday, 10.00am – 5.00pm.
