"I was platoon commander during the exercise. The platoon comprised members from all the companies in the battalion, which ranges from Carlow in the north to Wexford in the south. In getting ready for the assessment we have had to train regularly throughout the year, culminating in this week-long training block. I was very happy with our training this week."
Cpl Damian Drought (A Coy)
"Today I was section command- er with 2 Section. We provided the initial firebase once we came under attack allowing the fire support group to set up. We then forded the river and set up another firebase to allow 1 Sec- tion to assault the enemy position."
Cpl Edel Dunne (B Coy)
"I was 2i/c of 3 Section. My sec- tion provided fire support while the other two sections assaulted the enemy position during the platoon-in-attack. We've been in the Glen now for a week car- rying out our tactical drills. It was an excellent week and we hope to do well in the corps assessment."
Pte Emma O'Connor (A Coy)
"I was No 2 scout, Alpha Group, with 1 Section, so we were the first group to advance onto the enemy position. We did a recce of the position and reported back to our section commander before advancing along the river bank to take the enemy position. It was a great week."
