Following on with our Signals themed Tac- Aide from the previous two issues, here we discuss the use of PRO-WORDS.
PRO-WORDS
Pro-words are used to indicate specific meaning that replaces abbreviated sentences or phrases. They are basic and easy pro- nounced words, which have been given certain meanings and also help speed up message handling on radio networks thus reducing the chance of a mistake during a transmission.
STANDARD WORDS AND PHRASES

Normally used when a question is asked and the reply is yes Interruption to transmission
The transmission has been made in error - ignore it
Informs your chain of command that you have come into contact with the enemy and to await your Sit-Rep
Only used when there is a serious and immediate danger to life, Immediate help is needed
Numbers to follow (to distinguish numerals from words similarly pronounced) Ready to receive your message
When a question is asked and the reply to it is no End of transmission of message
Invitation to other operator transmit back to you
Say all after Say all before Standby Sit-Rep
Wait over Wait out Wrong
Following words to be spelt out with phonetic alphabet Repeating the transmission
Message received and understood, can be followed with either over or out Confirmation of a segment of a long message before continuation of the same Repeat last Message
Repeat all after a certain word or key message Repeat all before a certain word or key message Wait for a reply or message and I will get back to you
Means a Situation Report at that present time from your location Wait for a moment & I will get back to you
Wait for a longer period and I will get back to you ASAP
Indicates an error was made and the message will be repeated back to you from the last correctly transmitted word
