wo pieces of individual brilliance separated the sides in a hotly contested international friendly between the
Irish Defence Forces and the Royal Air Force (RAF) ladies. Played in splendidly presented home Farm grounds
in blustery and testing conditions, the home side were full value for their hard earned win.
With the RAF recently defeated by Germany in the final of the Aircom Inter Nation Football Tournament, this was
always going to be a tough assignment for Darren Cody's charges. This, coupled with the fact the Irish Defence Forc-
es ladies had very limited time training in camp together, meant that the win was truly a remarkable achievement.
The opening exchanges were a cagey affair and very much a tense game of 'cat and mouse' as both teams settled
into the game. With both defences showing well, it was going to take something special to breach the deadlock.
