that most of the lectures and classroom elements were covered on Tuesday nights,
with the exercises and more practical work being carried out over the weekends
and on the five-day, full-time training block.
The course was a complete success with all the students achieving a pass grade
in both their practical and written tests, which were supervised by Cpl Aidan
Clancy (2 Bde CIS Training Section) to ensure parity with the PDF course.
Furthermore, the success was an endorsement of the single-force concept as the
only difference between the PDF and RDF students was the 'Cultaca' badge.
Another course is planned in early 2018 and will again be open to both RDF and
PDF applicants.

"The regimental signals
course run by 2 Bde CIS
was an excellent example
of the single-force concept
at work and shows just
how successful it can be.
Students on the course
consisted of RDF and PDF
personnel, which 10 years
ago would have been
unthinkable. As a member
of the RDF I was delighted
to see how the single-force
concept has improved
the standard of training
available to the reserve
and enabled RDF units to
augment and support their
PDF counterparts in new
ways. This support enabled
2 Bde CIS to run a second
regimental signals course
this year and allowed a
number of RDF and PDF
personnel to advance their
careers. I hope to see this
trend continue in the years
to come."
