O
n October 12th, the 332 Irish troops of 107 IrishFinn Battalion, drawn mainly
from 4 W Bde, underwent the final phases of an intensive training period
in preparation for their six-month deployment to Lebanon with the United
Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). In Lebanon the Irish troops will be joined
by 177 Finnish soldiers deploying as an integral part of the battalion. In addition to
UNIFIL, Irish and Finish troops have previously served together in combined units in
Kosovo and Chad, and share a common, solid reputation in peacekeeping worldwide,
as well as a reputation as impartial and highly trained professionals.
