An Cosantóir April 2020 www.dfmagazine.ie 6 | 114 INF BN UNIFIL FUND RAISING During our six month tour of Duty 114 Inf Bn UNIFIL raised almost €10000 for a variety of Charities including Crumlin Children's Hospital, Aoibheann's Pink Tie and Pieta House. The three official charities selected by the Unit were - Irish Cancer Society, Donegal Hospice and Defence Forces Benevolent Fund. These three deserving organisations will receive €5500 of the total raised between them. Photo: RSM Pat Balfe DFAM WINTER MOUNTAIN TRAINING COURSE On the 2nd Feburary Two members of DFAM Travelled to Andermatt Switzerland to participate in PfP Winter Mountain Training Course with the Swiss armed Forces. the topics for this course were Movement and survival in mountains during difficult winter conditions, Avalanche risks and rescue measures, Leading and guiding over difficult terrain and Avalanche Risk assessment Photo: SGT Noel Shannon BSM DAVE GALVIN RETIREMENT BSM Dave Galvin stands down. BSM Dave Galvin seen here receiving a presentation from Lt.Col M. O'Connor (G4 1 Bde) as a mark of appreciation, for Dave's almost 42 years' service to the Defence Forces. Photo: John Durnin COVID-19 'WALK-IN' TEST FACILITY In response to the Defence Forces Alert Status changing to Yellow, troops from 2 Eng Gp, 2 Ord Gp and 7 Inf Bn have established a 'walk-in' test facility adjacent to the LÉ Samuel Beckett on the docks of the River Liffey in Dublin City.
