Photo: Sgt Pat Byrne MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID COURSE The Naval Service PSS staff, noteably L/Sea Niamh Crowly, conducted a Mental Health First Aid Course in the Navalbase on the 9th and 10th March 2020.18 Navalbase staff were in attendance, ranging from LT Cdr, LT, CPO's, PO's, LS's and AB's. Photo: L/Sea Niamh Crowley 61ST INFANTRY GROUP MISSION READINESS EXERCISE In early March the 61st Infantry group deploying to Syria in the coming weeks carried out there MRE. Troops were exercised in all the possible scenarios there may face in the mission area including foot patrols, Armour patrols, reaction to effective enemy fire and casualty evacuation to name but a few. Photo: A/M Sam Gigney 26TH PLN DEVOY BKS REUNION 2020 marked the 38th year reunion of 26th platoon, Army Apprentice School, Devoy Bks, Naas, in the Osprey Hotel Naas on Saturday 7th March. The 26th platoon enlisted in 1981 with 46 personnel passing out in 1984. They consisted of radio technicians, fitter armourers, MT mechanics, electricians and carpenters. Unfortunately two members have since passed away, John Blade in 1989 ,and Martin Ryan in 2019. Photo: Martin Rowe 95TH CADET COMMISSIONING On the 20th February the 95th Cadet Class Commissioning took place in Dublin. The Cadet Class went to mass in Christ Church Cathedral on the morning of the 20th and then marched across the city to Dublin Castle, where the Commissioning took place. In attendance was Vice Admiral Mark Mellett DSM, who also awarded the Officers with their scrolls.
