DFAM
In the last month members of DFAM took part in the DFB
reeve'n'rescue 2025 workshop. This consisted of 5 rescue scenarios
spaced out over Dublin City centre.
Members of DFAM also underwent their reassessments in Dalkey
quarry. These are essential to maintain our skills level and currency.
SOCCER
DF Soccer held its first camp since the 1-1 draw with the Dutch in
Cork this week. The week was a preparation week for the upcoming
CISM fixtures away to France in November and the UK AF men and
women's double header in Dublin in December.
Although numbers where tight it was a positive week allowing the
staff focus on system and course of action preparation for the
upcoming internationals!
DF soccer is always looking for high quality players to join the squad.
If you think you have what it takes, contact any member of staff or
players and we will organise a trial #weareone
DF ROWING
The Irish Defence Forces Rowing Club took part in the Rhine
Marathon in Germany — a prestigious 42.8 km rowing race
from Leverkusen to Düsseldorf. The team, made up of serving
Defence Forces personnel, trained extensively for the challenging
event, which tested stamina, teamwork, and resilience. Upon
arrival, the crew received a warm welcome from the international
rowing community. Despite tough weather conditions on race
day — including strong headwinds and cold temperatures — they
maintained a steady pace alongside top European crews. The Irish
boats achieved impressive results:
• 5th and 11th place overall
• 3rd international boat
• 1st Irish boat
Their performance earned praise for both athletic achievement
and sportsmanship. Beyond competition, the event fostered
international camaraderie and cultural exchange. The club views
this as a milestone in its mission to promote fitness, teamwork, and
international cooperation, with plans to return next year.
