RAF Vs Defence Forces

T
he game was exciting from the outset
with the RAF scoring the first of the
goals after 10mins. The DF had numerous attempts on goal and were unlucky not to
have put it in the net in the first half. The DF
ladies came back out in the second half fighting, securing the equaliser with a super goal
by Pte Sinead Taylor (6 Inf Bn & Galway City).
The DF held most of the position during the
second half and played a very skilful game.
The winning goal came in the last 10mins by
Lt Grace Fanning (NS) in her first ever International game. Pte Linda McNamara (12 Inf
Bn) was the team captain and goalkeeper.
After a year and a half of prep for the DF
squad the win was well deserved. The
team management for this game was:
Sgt Darren Cody, Pte Alan Corboy, Cpl Lorraine Walsh and Sgt Ken Nagle (Physical
Therapist). VIPs at game: Maj Gen Ralph
James (DCOS Ops), Col Jim Long (EO 1 Bde)
and the RAF Commander.
